Subs are £12 per month, payable by standing order on the 28th of each month. Please arrange payment into the account mentioned in the fact sheet. Or ask a leader for the details.
Subs cover the hire of the Scout Hut and other overheads including the annual capitation fee we have to pay to the Scout Association for each of our Explorers, which includes insurance and training amongst other things. We also use subs to discount events and camps where possible.
The cost of most meetings are covered by subs, however, occasionally we need to ask for money towards activities, which we would notify you of in advance. On the odd occasion we would request that you send specific items along to facilitate a particular event, this could be as simple as some tin cans or the loan of a spade! We don’t usually ask for expensive items.
Camps and bigger events are priced individually. As a rough guide, a DofE expedition would work out around £25 for Bronze, £35 for Silver and £45 for Gold including campsites, some equipment and a contribution towards reimbursing leader expenses. Apex challenge is about £120 per team of 3 or 4. Our weekend city trip to York was £40 including food, accommodation, travel and some activities. As you can see, these vary hugely. None of the activities are compulsory and you would have time to discuss and decide well in advance.
